The Avengers' Earth-side defense force is tasked with watching over the captured Kree and Shi'ar warriors at Project PEGASUS. It doesn't take long for members of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard to attack and liberate Warstar and their fellow soldiers. In the process, they see an opportunity to break out Captain Atlas and trick him into following Hobgoblin, disguised as Doctor Minerva, into a trap aboard their ship so they can claim his Nega-Bands. Left behind, the real Minerva agrees to help the Avengers find the escaped Shi'ar. With her help, the Avengers direct Quasar (accompanied by Her) to pursue the fleeing Imperial Guard cruiser, but before they can stop the ship from warping out, they're intercepted by Starbolt and Neutron.
